I bring a mix of farming, business, environmental, and governance experience.
I have a Bachelor of Engineering (Agricultural). That education, combined with my farming background, gave me a practical approach to problem solving and a strong interest in how good systems can support productive land use.
I have owned businesses in technology and tourism. Running small businesses has given me first-hand experience of the pressure on local employers, the importance of good service, and the need to spend money carefully. I would bring that same discipline to the regional council table.
I am part of a hill country farming equity partnership at Tauweru near Masterton, which has given me experience in teamwork, shared decision-making, and long-term planning.
I have been involved for many years in catchment and environmental work in Wairarapa. I’ve served on various organisations and worked with farmers, environmental advocates, iwi, and community groups.
Ruamāhanga Whaitua Committee
A community-led process set up to develop recommendations for land and water management across the Ruamāhanga catchment.
Wairarapa Water Resilience Strategy Group
The group sought an outcome of secure, efficient and resilient supplies of freshwater for all people of Wairarapa, in a
way acceptable to tangata whenua and within acceptable environmental standards.
Upper Ruamāhanga Advisory Group
The Advisory Group's core role is to give advice to Greater Wellington's Environment and Climate Committee on matters
relating to flood and erosion risks in the Upper Ruamāhanga area. Members are asked to provide advice on a range of
proposals and reports to ensure they balance cost effective flood & erosion risk management activities with
environmental, cultural and recreational opportunities. Members also provide advice on how best to support wider
engagement on these matters with their local community.
Ruamāhanga Restoration Trust
The trust supports schools and community groups across the Wairarapa with environmental restoration projects and
educational activities. I am one of the founding trustees.
